In Apple's operating system, Leopard, there are many settings that Apple included that are not shown in the normal preferences. After quite a bit of investigation and testing, Geek Peak Software has found nearly all of these hidden settings, and built them into a handy application: xMod.

Apart from changing hidden settings, xMod also provides an easy way to run certain maintenence scripts, repair permissions, and check for iminent harddrive failures.

Where do you keep your software licenses? In the Keychain? In your email client? Printed out and filed in a big folder?

Measuring Cup is a free recipe management program. It features an easy to use interface.

Behold Measuring Cup's Prowess

• Simple organization of recipes. iTunes/iPhoto kind of organization. Allows user defined categories and sub-categories. Searchable.
• In-place editing. Some software have a presentation view that is different from a editing view. That's cumbersome. Measuring Cup edits recipes as easy as when you are viewing it.
• Undo/Redo support. Good - no, make that great - undo/redo support.
• Simple view of a recipe. Shows the most important detail in the main screen. The rest is tucked away in an Aqua drawer.
• Sharing of recipes via import/export
• XML backing store. You probably don't care about this but this is cool to mention it. All recipes are stored as XML file for easy sharing eventually.

The Unarchiver (Free).

The Unarchiver is a better replacement for "BOMArchiveHelper.app", the built-in archive unpacker program in Mac OS X. The Unarchiver is designed to handle many more formats than BOMArchiveHelper, and to better fit in with the design of the Finder. It can also handle filenames in foreign character sets, or created with non-English versions of other operating systems.

Supported file formats include Zip, Tar-GZip, Tar-BZip2, Rar, 7-zip, LhA, StuffIt and many other more or less obscure formats. Support for so many formats is achieved by using the libxad unarchiving library.

MorphX (Free).

What is morphing? It's the process of one image transforming into another. What is MorphX? It's a free program that performs this process.

Drag two images to the document window, drag a couple of lines to indicate similar areas and MorphX does the rest. Watch as your first image is transformed into the other. Then save as a still image or a QuickTime movie.
